Conflict is a 1956 ABC series that directly succeeded Warner Brothers Presents. It is most famous for having hosted the effective pilots of 77 Sunset Strip and Maverick.Although it assumed the same time slot as its predecessor, the two do not share the same format. Where Warner Brothers Presents had been a wheel series, Conflict was a fully anthological series. However, since Cheyenne and Conflict alternated the Tuesday 7:30pm time slot, the net effect was that of a proper wheel series—even though Cheyenne and Conflict were not under the same umbrella title.The name change was imposed upon its production company, Warner Bros., by ABC executives who believed that "conflict" was the missing element in Casablanca and King's Row from Warner Brothers Presents.The show does not fit neatly into standard American television seasons. It technically superseded Warner Brothers Presents after Casablanca concluded its run in April 1956. And it seems to have provided at least one week of new material at the beginning of the 1957 season, before Sugarfoot, starring Will Hutchins, took its place.

The Hyodo-gumi boss—part of Tendokai, Japan’s largest yakuza syndicate—has been brutally murdered. Kazuma Washio (Hitoshi Ozawa), the head of the Washio-gumi and Tendokai’s wakagashira (underboss), is convinced that Yoshinari Myojin (Sho Aikawa), a former Tendokai wakagashira-hosa now running Tokyo’s underworld of thugs and mafia, is behind the killing. Around the same time, Tendokai's 5th-generation chairman Katsushige (Hakuryu) orders Washio to secure a woman named Nagi Toyama (Akane Hotta). Washio sets out with his men, Okita (Yasukaze Motomiya) and Date (Hideo Nakano), but they’re ambushed by a group of heavily armed youths. Barely escaping, they manage to bring Nagi to their hideout—only to discover she’s a key player in a power struggle over the Tokyo Casino Project. And so begins the greatest conflict yet, entangling yakuza, mafia, street gangs, the police, and even the state itself—

Hozumi suggests the conspiracy may be tied to Kazuma Washio's (Hitoshi Ozawa) past, prompting them to investigate. Okita visits arms dealer Genkichi Hyuga (Masataka Naruse), who holds crucial information that leads Okita to a shocking truth…

Former Tendokai Sixth-Generation Chairman Kazuma Washio (Hitoshi Ozawa) waited for a man in a VIP room at a high-end bar. The man was Sasahara Goro (Tetsu Watanabe), a former police officer who secretly orchestrated the conflict between Tendokai and the Tōnin Rengō. Now, Sasahara was the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Commissioner. Washio demanded Sasahara arrange a meeting with Prime Minister Kenzō Anan (Ikki Hankai). Meanwhile, at Washio-gumi, the Sankōkai—the group that led to the disbandment of Tendokai—arrived. The current leader, Daiki Yabuta (Kenji Matsuda), was once a close ally of Okita.
